Maritime Services Corporation’s marine engineers can assist with any engineering requirements you might have whether it be offshore, commercial workboats, cruise, fast ferry, or the gaming industry. We have departments that specialize in particular marine areas so our customers work with people experienced with the requirements and vessels of each industry. Below is a brief look at one of our projects with the cruise industry.
An Example of the Transformation of an Idea to a Reality
MSC worked with Princess Cruise's in-house design department for the refurbishments of both the Regal Princess and the Crown Princess. Beginning with conceptual drawings like this one, the Princess Cruises team created more detailed design drawings. The original design package that MSC bid and was awarded the Regal Princess on, contained 15 drawings. By the beginning of the sister ship, the Crown Princess, the original package had grown to 41 drawings.

Taking ship-check measurements and specifications from the design drawings, MSC engineered the two sister ships atriums. Communications between MSC and Princess Cruises Director of Interior Design and Project Superintendent Engineer facilitated compromises between design and engineering. Over 90 Auto Cad drawings were required for fabrication and installation purposes. For this and every other job, MSC’s on-site project management team is responsible for all aspects of the job; from bidding, drafting, purchasing, shipping and scheduling. This enables us to complete large complex jobs within the tight time confines of dry-dock.

The Regal Princess took 14 working days from the start of installation to it’s finish. The Crown Princess took 12. Both projects exceeded 3MM USD
