Maritime Services Corporation was founded in 1986 as a ship interior joiner contractor. Started by four partners, George Selfridge, Dianna Thomas "now retired", Charlie Capovilla, and Jake Kline. Don Helt later joined as a partner and Vice President. The company was incorporated in October of 1986. Inc. Magazine recognized Maritime Services Corporation two separate years as one of the countrys 500 fastest growing, privately held businesses.
Initially the company produced millwork and installation services for the cruise ship industry, adding fishing vessels and ferries to the list of clientele in short order. The customer base continually expanded and now includes ship owners and operators from all sectors of the maritime industry including cruise ships, tankers, tugs, offshore accommodations, fishing vessels, research vessels, ferries, fast ferries and gaming ships worldwide.
Products and services now include complete ship interior outfitting, case work and mill work manufacturing, manufacturing of the complete Norac AS joiner and wet space products, marine interior design, full marine electrical packages, materials only packages (wholesale sales) and the import and distribution of numerous marine product lines from Europe and elsewhere. Recently Maritime joined with MML, Glasgow to form MML USA, a marine door manufacture. Also, Maritime and Technoseat Australia have reached an agreement for distribution of Technoseat transit seating throughout the Americas.
Maritime has been able to increase this customer base by being more concerned with reputation than with the "bottom line". That reputation is due, to a great degree, to Maritimes flexible approach to project management and execution.
Maritime Services Corporations main facility is located in Hood River, Oregon, on a 3.5 acre plot. Operations in Hood River consist of 40,000 square feet of production shops, 10,000 square feet of warehouse space for the Maritime in stock/quick ship program, estimating, engineering, management and administrative offices. Maritime also has offices in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Seattle, Washington, Crown Point, Indiana, New Braunsfels (San Antonio) Texas, Southampton UK, California.
Maritime also builds marine dock systems yacht shelters and floating structures.
In 2007 Craft and Design formed as a subsidiary to Maritime, began selling commercial and residential new construction and remodeling services.
Product lines include cabinets by Neil Kelly, Omega, Kraft Maid, Dynasty, St. Charles and custom built patent pending Bamboo Cabinets in Maritimes own millwork and casework plant.
